The Rise of AI in HR: Leveraging Technology for Small Business Growth

Human resources are undergoing a transformation, thanks to Artificial Intelligence (AI) – with several tasks being simplified and, or automated, this cutting-edge technology assures business leaders that their HR departments can participate in the growth strategy of the business. Employees are increasingly being engaged in strategic tasks that boost growth.

AI’s impact on Recruitment, Talent acquisition and employee onboarding is significant, with platforms such as ATS growing in popularity because they significantly cut the manual labor in the initial candidate screening process by scanning CVs for relevant information. HR managers in small firms can employ these systems in order to enhance the recruitment process without developing large HR departments.

Conversely, AI engaged in employee engagement has been well developed and has gained traction in organizations owing to AI developed tools and programs which have the ability to measure employee sentiment and deliver updates and feedback in real time. This enables a proactive approach where companies can fill the gaps before they occur leading to a strong supportive company culture.

For learning and development, AI can recommend training based on an employee’s role, skill gaps and career aspirations. Such high level of personalization increases productivity as well as satisfaction which is pertinent for small organization to retain talent.

But the adoption of AI in HR is not without its hurdle. Small businesses need to consider the cost involved in adopting AI, data privacy and the ethical issues related to automated decision-making. It's important for them to select scalable and easy-to-use tools that would not drain their already limited resources out.

Though AI will never replace the human element of HR, it can certainly make HR simpler for small businesses. In fact, being able to effectively leverage AI will likely soon be a requirement for any small businesses hoping to achieve success in an increasingly competitive future work environment.
